The Associated Press seeks a Product Manager for its Washington, DC location. 

 

Reports to the Director of Product Management.  The Product Manager will be responsible for overseeing a vertical within the AP Workflow Solutions product portfolio.  This includes executing the product’s defined strategy, managing product launches and subsequent release cycles. 

 

The ideal candidate must have experience delivering new SaaS solutions to the market. The candidate must also be able to identify market trends and communicate these to the product and development teams. Additional experience supporting large scale SaaS deployments is also encouraged. 

 

Collaboration with sales, technology solutions, customer success and development teams will be key to achieve success in this position. 

 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the Director of Product Management in the product planning and target release phases for new market offerings that streamline editorial research and multiplatform content creation. 

  • Identify areas of improvements based on market feedback and technological trends. 

  • Work closely with Support and Technology Solution teams to understand how product decisions could improve operational efficiency. 

  • Collaborate with Support and the Documentation Manager on optimizing the product training approaches, taking into account both in-app tutorials and professionally delivered training.  

  • Translate market feedback into actionable product requirements for a product backlog and roadmap. 

  • Jointly work with the Technology Solutions team and the Documentation Manager throughout the release cycles to meet projected product release dates. 

  • Liaise with key integration partners in order to communicate product strategy and vision. 

  • Research leading market feedback methodologies and introduce improvements to the Product team. 

  • Prioritize market feedback based on defined qualitative criteria. 

  • Manage MVP product deployments and customer early adoption processes. 

  • Implement product strategies to position our products for success when matched up against market competitors. 

  • Support relevant sales teams with procurements and high-level customer meetings/demonstrations. 

  • Provide training for support and operations teams around newly developed product features. 

  • Regularly meet with the Director of Product Management to coordinate yearly product convention and market goals.  

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. 

  • Minimum of ten years of experience in the media technology industry. 

  • Minimum two years of product management best practices, including development of product backlogs and requirements. 

  • Extensive knowledge of technological trends impacting modern news and journalism operations and workflows. 

  • Ability to simultaneously prioritize and manage multiple work streams. 

  • Process and detail oriented approach, which includes tracking a variety of development items, backlogs and roadmaps. 

  • Demonstrable experience delivering complex multi-phase projects. 

  • Knowledge of release management best practices, including validated and evidence-based prioritization of items. 

  • Knowledge of Agile development best practices. 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 

  • Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. 

  • Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory. 

 

Please note: AP is currently a hybrid office-remote workplace. This role would require the successful candidate to work from AP’s Washington, D.C. office at least 2 days per week, subject to change.
