The Associated Press seeks a highly motivated and strategic Sales Planner to join the U.S. Local Media team and serve as a team leader to a small group of Planners. The ideal candidate is an independent, self-motivated, detail-oriented individual who will focus on assigned groups and key accounts in the Newspaper, Television and Radio industry segments.

The Sales Planner plays a key role in supporting sales efforts. The ability to collaborate with colleagues from multiple departments is critical.  The successful candidate also has the ability to lead by influence. 

Reports to the Vice President of Local Media.   This position may be based out of our New York headquarters and work a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days in the office or may be remote from other select locations.   

•    Act as a leader for a small team of sales planners supporting Local and Group account directors across the United States, helping find efficiencies and reducing error rates.
•    Serves as the liaison with the Sales Operations team to ensure agreements and other orders are processed quickly and efficiently.
•    Ensures sales pipelines are accurate at all times and updated using Salesforce.
•    Prepare accurate contracts and orders and process orders in a timely manner; ensure accurate billing.
•    Work across departments to help solve billing, legal, support and service issues.
•    Support smooth daily operations with a customer-first mindset and assist account directors with customer outreach, training and other types of engagement.
•    Perform contractor approvals and invoices for various AP departments.
•    Research and maintain updated information on market segments.
•    Develop an understanding of AP products and services. 
•    Other related duties, as assigned.

•    3-5 years’ experience in a sales support and/or customer success team role  
•    B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent preferred
•    Experience using Salesforce and SAP CRM 
•    Experience creating PowerPoint presentations and building Excel spreadsheets for sales and/or training needs; strong ability to manipulate and analyze data via Excel
•    Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and good team player who has the ability to lead without formal authority
•    Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
•    Adept at managing conference calls, webinars, and other technical solutions
•    Superior communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to listen to clients and offer creative solutions 


Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory.


The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,000 - 75,000, contingent on experience and other job-related factors.  Employees are eligible to participate, according to the terms of the official plan documents, in a 401(k) plan, employer-sponsored health insurance plan, and are eligible for paid time off and holidays in accordance with AP policy.
