Duties: Develop next generation technology with which the AP can deliver multimedia news to its customers with speed, accuracy, efficiency and completeness.  Build out front end UI’s, back end services, API’s and databases that will help provide the best user experience for AP customers. Understand business needs and requirements and break them down into implementation plans and task developers. Responsible for leading the software teams on the best technical approaches to solve problems including technology choices and implementation details. Design, develop and test software applications, APIs, services, interfaces, and enhancements to existing applications used by AP internal users and external customers to search for and discover AP’s various sets of content. Collaborate with the entire development team, program and product teams, testers and business owners to plan feature development for new releases. Conduct code reviews and participate in reviews of other team members’ code.  Review test plans for new features and will be responsible to document code thoroughly. Telecommuting permitted from anywhere within the United States.

 

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Technology Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field and 7 years of experience in the position offered or related. Must have 7 years of experience with: Creating technical designs, including diagrams and documentation, and performing code reviews with developers; Architecting and building dynamic single page applications using Angular and TypeScript; Building, troubleshooting and deploying web applications in Amazon Web Services (EC2, ECS, CloudFront, CloudWatch, API Gateway, SNS, SQS); Optimizing client application performance and implementing enterprise security best practices; Using automation processes and methodologies using tools including Puppet, Jenkins, TFS, and GIT; Working with data storage layers including MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Dynamo, MongoDB, and AWS AppSync and GraphQL; and Designing and consuming RESTful web services. Salary: $180,000 - $195,000/year.
