Why this role matters: These roles constitute the core of our video production team, delivering content tailored for both newsrooms and digital platforms. They are also an important part of our global effort to source and verify user-generated content.
What you will do: You will be a key member of AP’s new 24/7 global production hub, quickly producing video content for AP customers and audiences that rely on us to cover stories across the world. You will collaborate with AP journalists across formats to deliver compelling, high-impact journalism that aligns with AP’s digital-first strategy and AP standards. Your work will help meet the needs of AP’s customers for quick, accurate and engaging content and contribute to expanding our digital audience. You will:

Edit story elements quickly and creatively to produce strong visual narratives for newsrooms and digital audiences.

Edit breaking news video from live feeds on deadline, and write relevant shotlists and scripts with speed and accuracy.

Produce video edits in a variety of styles for AP customers and audiences in newsrooms, online and on social media around the world.

Source, verify and obtain permission to publish user-generated content, and conduct reporting around that content.

Exercise excellent news judgment when making editorial decisions.

Pursue innovative and inclusive storytelling techniques while consistently maintaining AP’s standards for integrity and objectivity.
Who you are:
Required Qualifications

Have advanced-level professional competency in non-linear video editing, including vertical videos for social media.

A sophisticated journalist with a proven track record of creating videos with innovative storytelling that resonate with digital audiences.

Can communicate and drive stories that people want to share, like and discuss on social media and other platforms.

Thrive in a breaking news environment and have a track record of delivering under tight deadlines.

Have strong writing skills in English, with the ability to write clearly and succinctly to picture.

Have a deep understanding of the international and U.S. news agendas.

Have familiarity with verification of user-generated content, including reverse image search, geolocation and other tools.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse team of journalists working across formats.

Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, such as at least three years of full-time experience at a daily newspaper, broadcast station, online or digital news outlet, or an AP bureau or regional desk.

Have authorization to work in India.

Have superior production and technical editing skills with DaVinci Resolve or a similar program.

Have strong organizational skills, with the ability to work to deadline, communicate effectively across formats, and deliver on complex and challenging storylines.

As AP is a 24/7 global news organization, you must be willing and able to work regular overnight and weekend shifts.
