Opportunity: We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking talent manager to lead and execute on the talent acquisition and talent development strategy across all AP divisions globally. This leader will be responsible for shaping and executing strategies across the employee lifecycle – job postings, recruitment, onboarding, training and overall talent development. Leading a small team, this individual will work collaboratively across divisions to ensure AP attracts, retains and develops top talent while fostering an inclusive culture that enables employees to do their best work. We welcome both remote and hybrid candidates for this role. If you reside in a city where we have an office (NYC, Chicago, DC, Los Angeles, Atlanta, etc.), we kindly ask that you be comfortable with a hybrid work arrangement.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Partner with leaders across divisions to develop and implement a strategy for talent and succession planning that aligns with AP’s mission and business goals. 

  • Partner with leaders across the People Team and global divisions, and the internal training lead, to design and implement modern talent development programs, including leadership development, manager training, succession planning and career pathing. 

  • Oversee and execute on all aspects of recruiting, including supporting managers with job description development, internal and external job postings, and applicant tracking. 

  • Partner with hiring managers across divisions to ensure job postings reflect business needs, company culture and industry best practices. 

  • Identify and implement innovative talent management technologies to streamline processes and improve candidate and employee experiences. This includes collaborating across the organization to refine and modernize processes related to recruitment, hiring, onboarding and offboarding. 

  • Collaborate with AP’s DEIB director and other stakeholders to implement strategies to attract and retain a workforce that is diverse and represents a broad spectrum of experiences and perspectives, and to foster a workplace that is welcoming and inclusive. 

  • Collaborate with HR leadership to develop workforce planning strategies that anticipate future business needs. 

  • Analyze data and trends to make data-driven decisions regarding all aspects of talent. 

  • Partner with the compensation team to develop and support compensation initiatives. 

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and provide training to managers as needed. 

  • Provide coaching and guidance to your team members, ensuring professional growth and alignment with organizational objectives. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Driven by mission and understands the importance of independent journalism. 

  • Proven experience in talent management, HR leadership or a related field. 

  • Strong understanding of talent acquisition, workforce planning and talent development. 

  • Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills. 

  • Effective relationship builder from the highest levels to entry level.  

  • Experience designing and delivering training in person and virtually.  

  • Experience working in a global environment across multiple geographies and cultures preferred. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive change and implement innovative HR solutions. 

  • Experience leveraging new HR technologies to enhance recruitment and talent development processes. 

  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. 

  • Ability to analyze data and use insights to shape talent strategies. 

  • Requires a high level of discretion and the ability to manage confidential information.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field preferred.  

  • Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. 

  • Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory.

Salary & Benefits: The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000 – $120,000, contingent on experience and other job-related factors. The Associated Press offers comprehensive benefits which include:
