As the Associated Press expands its digital direct advertising and content marketing sales efforts, AP seeks a highly creative, detail-oriented, and strategic Senior Manager, Digital Ad Sales to join the AP Content Services team, based in its New York headquarters.

 

The ideal candidate is motivated, passionate about the news industry, and possesses a variety of skill sets to join our global team. This role will have immediate hands-on responsibility for our go-to-market client-facing sales efforts, pitches, and proposals. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of digital advertising campaign sales and marketing, including sponsorships, programmatic display, video, native solutions, branded content, and social media. To be considered, you must be motivated, independent, and able to manage multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Proactively prospect, engage, close and account manage direct digital advertising and sponsorship deals across the AP News site, app, and AP’s social media properties
  • Identify strategic opportunities to grow digital revenue and sell traffic and engagement on AP’s web and mobile platforms
  • Utilize digital prospecting tools, Google Ad Manager, and Google Analytics data to identify and help to pursue opportunities for growth
  • Track industry trends and recommend strategies for leveraging new technologies, staying ahead of changes, and mitigating risks to revenue
  • Proactively prospect, engage, close, and manage programmatic guaranteed, preferred deal, and private auction deals across multiple SSPs
  • Analyze PMP delivery and perform optimizations
  • Create and present media plans, sales presentations, and proposals to meet clients’ strategic objectives
  • Maintain a pipeline of prospects across direct sales
  • Achieve revenue targets across direct and programmatic sales, while managing expenses against all accounts
  • Learn and utilize AP’s CRM to manage lead generation, outreach efforts, and invoicing

 

Requirements:

 

  • 5+ years in digital advertising sales and/or a business role managing over a minimum of $1.5M in annual sales
  • Experience selling to Fortune 500 companies and advertising agencies
  • Deep understanding of the digital advertising landscape, revenue models, ad technology, and ad serving platforms across programmatic and direct sales
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for communication across multiple departments and levels of management, as well as with clients and external contacts
  • Must be highly motivated, independent and detail-oriented
  • Possesses the ability to strategize and offer creative solutions to grow revenue and provide the optimal client and user experience
  • Experience using prospecting tools, Google Analytics, Google Ad Manager, and data management platforms to identify, prospect, and close business opportunities
  • Experience working across formats including display, video, branded content, and native advertising across desktop, mobile web, in-app, and newsletter
  • Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Word is required
  • IAB certification is a plus
  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent
