Location: New York, NY, US, 10281

Company: Associated Press

The Associated Press is an independent global news organization dedicated to factual reporting. Founded in 1846, AP today remains the most trusted source of fast, accurate, unbiased news in all formats and the essential provider of the technology and services vital to the news business. More than half the world's population sees AP journalism every day.

Every day, The Associated Press produces millions of verified facts — stories, images, and insights that shape how the world understands itself. AP Intelligence is the next evolution of that mission: turning trusted news into powerful, structured data for the AI era.

We’re looking for a product leader who can bring this vision to life — someone who can connect fact-based journalism and machine intelligence, who knows how to build data products that inform decisions, power models, and move markets.

In this role, you’ll lead the strategy, roadmap, and go-to-market for AP Intelligence, collaborating across technology, revenue, and editorial teams while working directly with leading AI and cloud partners. You’ll help define how the next generation of AI systems understand real-world events — and translate them into insights and strategic decisions.

What you will do:

  • Set the vision and roadmap for AP Intelligence, ensuring alignment between product strategy, customer outcomes, and AP’s broader mission.
  • Own growth and customer success, driving adoption, retention, and revenue expansion across key verticals such as finance, AI, government, and technology sectors.
  • Translate market insights into action — identify opportunities, shape requirements, and guide prioritization through the entire product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate across disciplines — partner with engineering, data, and editorial teams to transform AP’s content into structured, enriched datasets accessible via APIs and other delivery models.
  • Lead strategic partnerships with AI, data, and cloud providers, managing co-development initiatives and joint innovation.
  • Drive go-to-market execution — craft positioning, pricing, and narratives that resonate with enterprise and developer audiences.
  • Measure impact — define KPIs, analyze product performance, and integrate customer feedback to guide continuous improvement and innovation.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical, business, or analytical discipline. MBA or equivalent experience a plus.
  • 5+ years in product management or similar product-building roles, including 1+ years working with AI, automation, or data-intensive products.
  • Experience in B2B product management with enterprise, cloud, or financial services customers, including commercial data marketplaces.
  • Understanding and experience building products that leverage Large Language Models,  RAG architectures, prompting, function calling, retrieval, vector databases, embeddings, fine-tuning, and model evaluation.
  • Show initiative and independence when dealing with problems.  Takes initiative and works independently to resolve challenges
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. or the ability to gain permission to do so.
  • Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English. Professional competency in a language besides English is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects across formats.

The position follows a hybrid work model based in AP’s New York headquarters.
