We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Senior Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to help lead our global FP&A function. Based in New York City and reporting to the SVP, Chief Financial Officer, this role will be instrumental in shaping financial strategy at a critical moment for AP, supporting our direction of travel by driving performance and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

As part of a high-performing global team, you will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and performance analysis across AP’s global operations. You will partner closely with executive leadership to provide actionable insights, challenge assumptions, and support strategic initiatives that advance AP’s mission to deliver trusted journalism worldwide.

This is a hybrid role, requiring at least three days per week onsite in our New York office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-lead the global FP&A function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and financial performance analysis.
  • Partner with senior leadership to provide strategic financial guidance and support decision-making across all business units.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models to evaluate business scenarios, investment opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and insight.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and impactful financial reporting and presentations to executive leadership.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing FP&A team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with other Finance functions to ensure alignment and consistency across financial operations.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of financial systems and tools.

      

About You

You are an experienced and commercially astute finance leader who thrives in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. You demonstrate a highly analytical mindset and the ability to quickly establish credibility in order to influence and engage senior stakeholders. You combine deep technical expertise with excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.

 

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, including leadership roles in international organizations.
  • Proven track record of partnering with senior executives to drive financial performance and strategic outcomes.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes across global operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems and tools
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) preferred but not essential.
  • Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English is essential.

Salary and benefits:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $200,000 - 250,000 contingent on experience and other job-related factors. Employees are eligible to participate, according to the terms of the official plan documents, in a 401(k) plan, employer-sponsored health insurance plan, and are eligible for paid time off and holidays in accordance with AP policy.
