The Associated Press seeks a highly motivated technology Project Manager for its video platforms and services. The Project Manager will work as a part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary project management team that provides support for the creation of AP products and services worldwide. The candidate must have a sound understanding of software development and project lifecycles, as well as a basic understanding of video and editorial workflows.  A successful candidate will develop and manage project proposals and plans, develop business requirements, manage project scope and resources against budget and be responsible for stakeholder communications. This role calls for a strong foundation in managing complex, enterprise projects using a variety of project management methodologies, especially agile, and have the flexibility to lead cross functional teams to deliver integrated technology solutions.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage cross-departmental teams to oversee projects from planning through launch
  • Work collaboratively with business and editorial stakeholders to firm up requirements and objectives, including measurable success criteria
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and dependencies
  • Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation plans
  • Communicate program status to stakeholders and senior executives through presentations and status reports
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years project management experience leading complex projects
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline
  • Understanding of the software development process, including requirements gathering, analysis/design, development tools/technologies, release/version control, contemporary testing methodologies and release management
  • Proven project management experience, including excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, team player who will enjoy partnering with various subject matter experts to drive the best possible solutions
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and using data to inform business decisions

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) / CSM (Certified Scrum Master) certification
  • Vendor management experience a plus
  • Experience in traditional and cloud-based broadcast/online video workflows

 

 

This position will be managed from AP’s New York City headquarters.  Due to Covid restrictions, we are currently working on a remote basis.  When the restrictions are lifted, the successful applicant may work from AP’s New York office or on a fully remote basis anywhere within the United States.

 

Authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer is mandatory. Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required.
