The Associated Press seeks a pricing manager. 

 

The successful candidate may work on a hybrid schedule based in AP’s New York headquarters. 

 

Reporting to the senior director of revenue strategy, the pricing strategy manager is a key member of the newly formed Strategy team made up of analysts and researchers who will identify potential areas for revenue growth, work with leadership to set priorities and inform AP’s overall strategic plans.

 

The key focus is to design pricing strategies and target prices for AP’s product portfolio with the aim of increasing market share and achieving revenue goals. Primary activities include: a) analysis of AP pricing structures across various customer segments - including rules for pricing within AP’s cooperative membership structure; b) identification and analysis of pricing history, trends and competitor pricing for similar products, and; c) establishing recommended pricing structures, rate cards, and schedules for products and selected services offered by AP.

 

The pricing manager will develop strategies used in pricing models, analyzing data from multiple sources and in collaboration with Sales and Products and Finance.
 

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze pricing data from industry standards, market trends, AP and its competitors and report key findings to stakeholders
  • Recommend pricing strategies and models to increase revenue across different products and customer segments
  • Identify appropriate sales, surge and clearance prices to increase revenue and/or usage
  • With strategy team, scope out opportunities based on market trends and industry condition. Create reports reflecting metrics and project status, objectives and barriers
  • Compare sales trends to previous periods and determine the cause for decrease or increase. Regularly review trends with sales and products in consideration of changes to approach

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum five years experience in B2B pricing analysis (B2C and media experience are desirable)
  • Strong knowledge about the industry including competitors and market trends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Financial acumen and data analysis skills
  • Keen eye for identifying opportunity
  • Effective writing and communications skills, including creating detailed, understandable reports and presentations
  • Enthusiastic and proactive team player
  • Bachelor’s degree
