The Associated Press is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Marketing Manager to join the AP News marketing team based in New York, NY.  

 

This opportunity offers immediate hands-on responsibility within a growing, dynamic team. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver with an innate interest in marketing and news media. The work environment is fast-paced, collaborative and goal-oriented. 

 

This role will help shape and execute marketing strategies (with an emphasis on social media) that enhance brand awareness and drive engagement. This position reports to the Director of Integrated Marketing.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, execute and manage social media content. The two main areas are (a) business-to-business promotion of AP News’ advertising opportunities and (b) direct-to-consumer ad campaigns. 

  • Analyze and report on social media performance metrics, providing insights and actionable recommendations. 

  • Work with the Director of Integrated Marketing to maintain and evolve social media strategy across platforms. 

  • Conduct independent market research to identify trends and opportunities in news media advertising. 

  • Support the marketing team and sales team, including ad campaign ideation, building marketing collateral (pitch decks, 1-sheets) and more. 

  • Stay up to date on digital advertising trends, social media trends and emerging digital advertising products. 

 

Required Skills & Experience: 

  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent 

  • Minimum 2+ years of work experience in media, publishing and/or advertising industry 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Basic graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, MS PowerPoint or similar) 

  • Experience creating ad sales marketing collateral, such as pitch decks, 1-sheets and more. 

  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools (Facebook Ads Manager, Google Ads, LinkedIn, etc.) 

  • Analytical mindset for interpreting social media metrics and campaign performance 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines. 

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Passion for the news industry and media 

  • Experience working at a media publisher or news organization 

  • Creative problem-solving skills and a desire grow new skills 

 

  

Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory. 

  

 Location: The successful candidate will be expected to work a hybrid schedule from our New York headquarters.   

  

Salary & Benefits: The anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000 - 85,000, contingent on experience and other job-related factors. Employees are eligible to participate, according to the terms of the official plan documents, in a 401(k) plan, employer-sponsored health insurance plan, and are eligible for paid time off and holidays in accordance with AP policy.
