The Associated Press is seeking a highly detail-oriented and strategic Digital Advertising Technology Manager to join AP on the ground floor as we revitalize and expand our B2C effort, building on AP’s reputation, reach and high-quality content to bring unique

advertising opportunities direct to the market. This position is based in New York, NY and will report to the Director, Ad Solutions.

 

The Digital Advertising Technology Manager works closely with the product and revenue teams to implement, monitor, test and troubleshoot AP’s digital advertising integrations.

 

The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of advertising technology, strong testing and troubleshooting experience and a high level of comfort working within ad servers to identify areas for optimization. To be considered, you must be motivated, independent, and able to manage multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Implement new product rollouts and technical integrations for all new ad vendors in collaboration with product and revenue teams.
  • Responsible for the Q/A and ongoing testing process of AP’s ad stack, including new and existing ad units, web and app releases and integrations (ad formats including display, video, branded content, audio, high impact and native advertising across desktop, mobile web, in-app and newsletter).
  • Work with the products and revenue operations teams to recommend and implement improvements to integrations, ad units/inventory, identity solutions and measurement/viewability/fraud tools.
  • Lead troubleshooting for all technical issues with AP’s advertising integrations across ad servers and platforms.
  • Research and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the programmatic advertising landscape, including available ad technology tools and platforms.
  • Own day-to-day technical operations and the intersection between ads and development, interfacing regularly with the development and products teams.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of privacy, data, consent, accessibility and other regulatory requirements and communicate requirements to revenue and development teams.
  • Develop best practices, as well as a process for auditing and testing regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in partner meetings and analysis to evaluate new opportunities.
  • Closely monitor performance data in Google Ad Manager, SSPs and other third-party systems, and recommend optimizations based on analysis.

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years in a digital ad technology or an advertising operations role at a publisher or ad tech company.
  • Extensive experience across various ad servers and SSPs (Google Ad Manager, etc.) across web and app.
  • Strong technical knowledge, including HTML and Javascript, as well as troubleshooting/debugging tools such as Charles.
  • High level of comfort working with DSPs, SSPs, ad networks, exchanges, etc. and operating across multiple digital advertising platforms.
  • Understanding of varied integrations, including client-side and server-side header bidding, SDKs, tags, Open Bidding, etc.
  • Advanced experience with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, charts, etc.).
  • Site analytics experience; Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics API.
  • In-depth knowledge of ad technology, including monitoring and troubleshooting ad calls.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, CCPA and other advertising policy requirements.
  • Experience working across formats including display, video, branded content, audio, high impact and native advertising across desktop, mobile web, in-app and newsletter.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and departments.
  • Must be highly motivated, independent and detail oriented.
  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent.

 

Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory.

 

The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000 - contingent on experience and other job-related factors.  Employees are eligible to participate, according to the terms of the official plan documents, in a 401(k) plan, employer-sponsored health insurance plan, and are eligible for paid time off and holidays in accordance with AP policy.
