We are seeking a strategic and experienced learning and development manager to design, develop and deliver impactful training programs for AP’s global workforce. This leader will focus on leadership and management training for our people managers and will collaborate with leaders in our editorial and business operations divisions on all aspects of training and development to ensure employees have the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. The learning and development manager will work closely with the People Team and business leaders to identify training needs, develop programs, deliver meaningful training to our global workforce and establish metrics to measure effectiveness. The ideal candidate will be an engaging facilitator, an innovative learning strategist and a strong advocate for professional growth and DEIB initiatives. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop and deliver training programs, with a focus on leadership, management and professional development for AP’s global workforce. 

  • Conduct gap analyses to identify training needs and align learning initiatives with business objectives. 

  • Facilitate engaging virtual and in-person training to enhance employee skills and knowledge. 

  • Develop and implement training metrics and assessment tools to measure program effectiveness and impact. 

  • Partner with People Team leaders and business leaders to ensure training programs support AP’s strategic priorities and organizational goals. 

  • Stay current on learning trends, tools and technologies to continuously improve training delivery and effectiveness. 

  • Support DEIB initiatives by incorporating inclusive learning practices and ensuring equitable access to training opportunities. 

  • Manage external training vendors and resources as needed. 

  • Create and maintain training materials, guides and learning resources. 

  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers and employees to promote a culture of continuous learning and development. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Commitment to AP’s mission and a passion for fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education or a related field. 

  • 5+ years of experience in training and development, instructional design or a related field. 

  • Proven experience designing and delivering virtual and in-person training programs. 

  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design and training evaluation methods. 

  • Experience conducting training needs assessments and gap analyses. 

  • Ability to develop and track key learning metrics to measure training effectiveness. 

  • Strong presentation, facilitation and communication skills. 

  • Experience working with a global workforce and cross-cultural training. 

  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), e-learning tools, designing in PowerPoint and other training technologies. 

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with People Team and business leaders to align training with organizational goals.

Salary & Benefits: The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000 – $120,000, contingent on experience and other job-related factors. The Associated Press offers comprehensive benefits which include:
