The Associated Press is seeking a HR/Benefits Accounting Administrator for its New York headquarters.


The individual in this role will support employee benefits and overall human resources with reporting, analysis and billing.  This will include accurate processing and payment of bills, preparing reports and maintaining payment schedules.


This is a hybrid role with a requirement to work from the office at least twice a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Reports to the Global Director of Employee Benefits.



  • Perform day to day financial administration of all corporate health and welfare (H&W) benefit plans: medical, dental, flex spending accounts, life and accidental death and disability policies and voluntary programs.
  • Serve as a liaison between employee and insurance providers to resolve billing related issues.
  • Run reports, prepare and process all HR department bills for approval and submission to corporate finance.
  • Responsible for accurate payment of employee benefit premiums.
  • Generate analytical reports to capture various plan data information, including participation, eligibility, benefits cost trend, etc. 
  • Assume projects as necessary and additional duties as assigned.



The successful candidate learns quickly, is organized, highly motivated, pays attention to detail and is able to manage multiple projects at the same time. The ability to use discretion, sound judgement and maintain confidentiality is required.


Other qualifications include:

  • Three years’ experience running reports, processing invoices ideally for HR employee benefit plans.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office Professional products.
  • Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong HRIS and project management skills (preferably SAP)
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and balance priorities.
  • Able to prioritize, work independently and as part of a team.


Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory.


The anticipated salary range for this position is $55,000 - 60,000 contingent on experience and other job-related factors.  Employees are eligible to participate, according to the terms of the official plan documents, in a 401(k) plan, employer-sponsored health insurance plan, and are eligible for paid time off and holidays in accordance with AP policy.
