The Associated Press is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented and strategic Temporary (6 months) Digital Advertising Sales Specialist to join the AP Content Services team. This position will play a key role in uncovering and pursuing direct sponsorship opportunities with brands and media agencies. This position will acutely focus on new business opportunities connected to AP digital platforms including APNews.com, APNews app, and AP social media channels. The Digital Advertising Sales Specialist will work with internal and external contacts at all levels of management to pitch advertising/sponsorship solutions and seek out areas where AP’s digital offerings and brand messaging are aligned.


The ideal candidate has high-level agency and brand contacts, comprehensive understanding of brand and agency marketing strategies, and knowledge of digital advertising campaign planning and operations, including sponsorships, display, video, native solutions, branded content and social media.


Key Abilities:

  • Cold call/qualify new businesses and maintain a pipeline of sales prospects
  • Create media plans, sales presentations and proposals to meet clients’ strategic objectives
  • Self-motivated and organized with excellent communications skills
  • Learn and utilize AP’s CRM to manage lead generation and outreach efforts


  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of relevant ad sales experience, managing over $1.5M in annual sales
  • Experience selling to Fortune 500 companies and media/advertising agencies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for communication across multiple departments and levels of management, as well as with clients and external contacts
  • Must be highly motivated, independent and detail-oriented
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and within deadlines
  • Possesses the ability to strategize and offer creative solutions to grow revenue and provide the optimal client experience


Authorization to work in the U.S. will be mandatory.  Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English is required.
