The Associated Press seeks an Account Manager, Platforms & Social Media based in New York City.

 

The account manager is responsible for working directly with platform and social media clients.   This includes maintaining and growing revenue through new and existing client base. Working on accounts responsible for generating revenue by developing custom solutions with AP Products and Services. The successful candidate is comfortable with sales targets and account opportunity development, thus creating future revenue within their existing client base.   A growth mindset with an understanding of the platforms and social media landscape will lead to success in this role.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with existing/new accounts by understanding their business needs and issues to identify larger opportunities
  • Handle all aspects of the renewal process for key accounts, from contract and customer performance review through negotiations to closure
  • Engage with customers to create opportunities and deepen relationships
  • Encourage and educate customers to understand our products and platforms
  • Contribute on ideas, opportunities and challenges that face markets
  • Coordinate and collaborate internal personnel, including support, editorial teams, and management resources, to help achieve objectives, trouble-shoot issues, and meet customers' expectations
  • Foster internal relationships with cross-functional teams within all departments

 

Qualifications: 

  • 5 years sales and/or customer facing experience in digital media
  • Strong networking and negotiation skills
  • Background in account management and new business development
  • Successful track record managing accounts and/or building client relationships
  • Entrepreneurial spirit for consultative selling approach
  • Strong research and analysis skills
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Salesforce.com
  • Some travel required

 

Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the U.S. will be mandatory.

 

This position will be managed from AP’s New York City headquarters. Due to Covid restrictions, we are currently working on a remote basis. When the restrictions are lifted, the successful applicant will work from AP’s New York office at least two days per week.
