Job summary


The Network Engineer role is primarily responsible for maintaining the network infrastructure in London, the company’s regional main office and data centre, as well as several branch offices throughout EMEA and Asia. The network provides connectivity to all journalists and the content delivery of all news media worldwide. The Network Engineer will work with a team of six engineers, two in London and four in the US, and will report to the Deputy Director in the US.


Main duties:


The entry level network engineer will work with the network team to administer network components and assist in support and troubleshooting of the network.  The engineer will be expected to become proficient in the following:


  • Configuring and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, WiFi access points and video streaming network infrastructures.   
  • Use monitoring tools to monitor performance, document trends and recommend improvements.
  • Familiarize yourself with the use of a ticketing systems to act on incidents and service requests.
  • Work cooperatively with global technology teams.
  • Work within change management processes to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes.
  • Produce documentation, spreadsheets, reports, and network drawings.
  • Be available for on-call support during operational issues.

Work experience in or knowledge of the following:


  • AWS network training desirable
  • Experience working in a news media industry
  • An understanding of routers, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi access points and how they inter-operate in a network.  
  • Network knowledge or training



  • Educated to degree level (computer science related desirable but not essential) 
  • Cisco associate certification (CCNA) essential



In Office & Remote:


At this time employees are permitted to work from home full time. In-office attendance is voluntary, and you may work a hybrid schedule some days in the office and some days remote.  You can expect that eventually and in accordance with local laws we will return to in-office hybrid work schedule for everyone.
