We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Project Manager to join our dynamic Technology team at AP. In this role, you will drive initiatives that support content creation and optimize platforms and services delivering AP’s world-class journalism to customers. Location: This full-time role is based in our New York City headquarters with a hybrid work model (3 days per week in office is required). Well-qualified remote candidates will also be considered.
Role & Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution

Manage multiple high-priority technology initiatives, ensuring smooth coordination across teams.

Oversee project timelines, milestones, and releases, ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery.

Identify and resolve roadblocks, proactively mitigate risks and adapt to shifting priorities.
Cross-Team Collaboration

Act as a bridge between stakeholders, including newsroom leaders, engineers, and business teams, to translate strategic goals into actionable technology initiatives.

Master internal workflows to advocate for both internal teams and customer needs.

Partner with teams to drive improvements in user experience, personalization, and analytics-driven insights.
Technology & Innovation

Work closely with software development, product design, and metadata teams to ensure seamless integration of technology into news production systems.

Define and track business requirements, enabling efficient content creation, distribution, and audience engagement.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement through post-launch evaluations and lessons learned.
Communication & Transparency

Provide clear and concise project updates to stakeholders at all levels.

Lead effective meetings, documentation processes, and follow-up actions.

Maintain alignment across teams by ensuring visibility into project progress and potential risks.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Project Management, Business, Computer Science, etc.).

PMP (Project Management Professional) or CSM (Certified Scrum Master) certification is preferred but not required.

3+ years of project management experience, preferably in an application development-focused role within news, media, or publishing.

Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, geographically diverse environment.

Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, or other project management methodologies.

Proficiency in tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Trello, Asana, or similar platforms.

Experience working with software development teams, APIs, metadata, and content management systems (CMS).

Familiarity with newsroom workflows, digital media, and publishing systems is a plus.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

A natural problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments, and uses data to make informed project decisions

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Eagerness and aptitude to learn workflows and new technologies to become a subject matter expert and stakeholder advocate.
Salary & Benefits: The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000, contingent on experience and other job-related factors.
