We are seeking a seasoned HR Business Partner with international experience to join our global HR team. Reporting to the Global HR Director for News, you will play a key role within both the business partnering team and the broader HR function.
Based in Mexico City, this role will support AP’s international operations across both news and business functions. As a strategic advisor and trusted partner to senior leaders, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering a high-impact people strategy that enhances the employee experience, strengthens organizational effectiveness, and supports AP’s mission to advance the power of facts.
This is a hybrid position, requiring three days per week in our Mexico City office. Applicants must have the legal right to work in Mexico.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic partner to business leaders, providing expert guidance on organizational design, workforce planning, talent development, and change management.
- Lead on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary and grievance procedures and performance management, ensuring compliance with local and international employment laws.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures across multiple jurisdictions.
- Partner with the wider HR team to ensure seamless execution of global HR operations and contribute to projects and initiatives that support AP’s strategic goals.
- Collaborate with union representatives and internal stakeholders to support constructive labor relations and ensure compliance with collective agreements.
- Analyze HR metrics and trends to inform decision-making and proactively address workforce challenges.
- Manages administrative and transactional HR work, including managing employee data, processing changes, and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Mentor and support junior HR team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

You are an experienced, solutions-oriented HR professional with a passion for supporting people and driving high performance. You thrive in a dynamic team in a fast-paced international environment and bring a proactive, consultative approach to your work. You are comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution and are not deterred by the administrative and operational aspects of HR work.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a business partner or strategic advisory role within an international organization.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR practices across Latin America. Additional jurisdictions a plus.
- Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases and advising senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead HR projects and contribute to organizational change initiatives.
- Experience with HRIS systems (SAP HR and SuccessFactors preferred but not essential).
- Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is essential. Professional competency in Spanish preferred. Additional languages desirable but not essential.
