We are now recruiting for a Senior Financial Analyst to work within our International Sales division in London.


International Sales, with an annual turnover of $125m, covers 91 products and c.1,500 customers and is the part of AP responsible for the licensing of AP’s Video, Text and Photo products across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. 


The Senior Financial Analyst is a key role within the international finance team.  This role covers revenue for Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa and reports to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (International).

The role’s key internal customers, being a total of 65 people, are:

  • de facto CEO - International
  • the Sales Director, EMEA, and their team
  • the Sales Director, Asia, and their team
  • the VP Business Operations and their team
  • Head of International Archive and their team
  • Head of Business Development and their team

Key responsibilities:


  • Monthly Reporting:
    • to prepare and present the monthly reporting to key internal customers on business performance, both revenue and selling expenses
    • to prepare and present the commentary on and analysis of the monthly performance highlighting areas of upside and risk
    • to partner with the Accounting team regarding billing, revenue recognition, accruals, customer contracts, MDM customer numbers, etc.
  • Budgets:
    • responsible for the preparation and presentation of budgets
    • to run the budget process including the meetings with the Sales Reps, the Sales Directors and the SVP
    • to input to all areas of the budget including key dimensions including all the main transaction types (new business, terminations, renewals and suspensions etc.), suspended and deferred revenue, setting targets for the main products
    • to have a deep understanding of the market, its growth and any other factors to be taken account in preparing a budget
    • to provide sensitivity analysis
    • to have an in-depth understanding of, and undertake analysis, of movements across all dimensions
  • Forecasts:
    • responsible for or input to the preparation of the full year forecasts
    • as part of the above, to prepare high-level full-year forecasts on a monthly basis which track by transaction type new business, terminations, suspensions and key contract renewals
    • to monitor and work with the business to realise upsides and mitigate risks to the full year budget


      Ad-hoc responsibilities:


  • New business initiatives:
    • to provide financial input to and build financial models to support the business case
    • to monitor progress in achieving the expected financial performance
  • Customer contracts:
    • To provide financial analysis to support the negotiation of complex new contracts
    • To provide financial analysis to support the renewal or renegotiation of existing contracts
    • To input to presentations for the AP Board and key stakeholders in Sales International
  • To input to and prepare the commissions and bonus plan calculations for the sales teams
  • To ensure that all reports, processes and systems are consistent across the two roles
  • To input to systems development impacting on revenue reporting
  • Proactively develop constructive relationships with Business owners and customers and act as first point of contact in all finance-related issues.
  • Provide training in financial systems to internal customers eg the revenue portal
  • Prepare other ad-hoc financial performance reports and analysis to present to the business owners
  • Review and improve key processes; update and document as appropriate


Essential criteria

  • ACA, CIMA or ACCA, or qualified by experience
  • Detail-orientated with an ability to handle large amounts of data
  • Understands and adept at reporting on the drivers of variances within a contracts-driven business
  • Business partnering with people and teams located in different countries globally
  • Experience in a multi-product business preferably international with both short- and long-term customer contracts
  • Experience in management reporting
  • Experience in forecasting and budgeting
  • Excellent analytical and data manipulation skills
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into cohesive management-ready analyses, conclusions and recommendations
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Commercially astute, hands on and a capable organiser
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Self-motivator, able to work under pressure, multi-task and focus on deadlines

    Systems Requirements:

  • Superior Excel skills – high degree of familiarity with modeling and confident in manipulating large amounts of data
  • Excellent knowledge of Hyperion Planning and SAP BI
  • Working knowledge of Power Point, Word, Access and Outlook
  • Good knowledge of Customer Relationship Management Systems (desirable but not essential)
