Company: Associated Press

The Associated Press is an independent global news organization dedicated to factual reporting. Founded in 1846, AP today remains the most trusted source of fast, accurate, unbiased news in all formats and the essential provider of the technology and services vital to the news business. More than half the world's population sees AP journalism every day.

AP serves both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) audiences. Our consumer-facing operation — including APNews.com and a growing portfolio of newsletters — brings AP journalism directly to the public.

Newsletters are AP’s most loyal audience vehicle: Newsletter readers donate more, read more stories and are dedicated supporters of AP journalism.

The role: AP seeks a sharp, versatile journalist to write and curate The Morning Wire, AP’s flagship daily newsletter that delivers a clear, authoritative look at the day’s top stories. Based in London, you’ll work across time zones with editors and reporters worldwide to produce the daily send for 7 a.m. ET.

You’ll bring a broad curiosity — from politics and business to science, sports and culture — and the ability to distill complex issues into concise, engaging writing. You’ll also contribute to other AP newsletters and help deepen our direct connection with readers.

What you’ll do:

  • Write and shape The Morning Wire. Deliver a smart, engaging read that reflects AP’s depth and authority.
  • Distill complex stories into clear, factual and accessible language for a wide audience.
  • Select standout visuals — photos, videos and interactives — that enhance each edition.
  • Engage with readers. Respond to feedback, track sentiment and help build loyalty among AP’s most dedicated audience.
  • Be a newsroom ambassador. Represent The Morning Wire across desks and help colleagues showcase their best work in the newsletter.
  • Use analytics to understand reader behavior and continuously improve performance.
  • Collaborate across teams — editorial, product, design and engagement — to test new formats and elevate the reader experience.
  • Support other newsletters through writing, editing and production as needed.

What you’ll bring:

  • At least 3 years of reporting, writing or editing experience in a digital newsroom.
  • Authorization to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Proven ability to write accurate, engaging copy on deadline.
  • Strong news judgment and broad interest in global, U.S. and cultural stories.
  • Demonstrated experience using audience data to inform editorial choices.
  • Familiarity with newsletter platforms, analytics tools and digital production workflows.
  • Excellent line editing and headline writing skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and comfort working across time zones.
  • Commitment to AP’s standards of accuracy, integrity and inclusive coverage.

Details: This is a Monday–Friday position. The role’s hours align with production for the 7 a.m. ET send of The Morning Wire. AP requires at least three days per week (Tuesday-Thursday) in the office. Employees are eligible for AP’s comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, pension contributions, paid time off and holidays in accordance with AP policy.

Final note: We know strong journalists take many paths. If you bring curiosity, clarity and creativity to your work — even if you don’t check every box — we’d like to hear from you. What matters most is your ability to write with authority, think across topics and help AP connect with readers around the world each morning.

Application deadline is November 20, at 11:59PM ET.

AP seeks to build an inclusive organization grounded in respect for differences. We support all aspects of diversity and provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, marital status, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, status as a veteran, or other characteristic protected by law.
