Opportunity:

We seek a proactive and internationally minded Junior HR Business Partner to join our global business partnering team. Reporting to the Director, HRBP, in this role you will work closely with our international network of HR Business Partners across both news and business operations, as well as an HR Administrator.

Motivated by a commitment to AP’s mission to advance the power of facts and uphold its organisational values, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality employee experience at every stage of the lifecycle across all AP departments and locations.

Together with the HR Administrator, you will be instrumental in supporting the smooth running of HR operations and projects. Using your knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice, you will lead and facilitate key processes and serve as an important first point of contact across a broad range of issues.

With a focus on collaboration, precision and efficiency, this role requires a solutions-oriented self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced international environment as part of a high-performing global HR team.

This role can be performed on a fully remote or hybrid basis, with three days a week in one of our AP offices. We will consider applications from all locations, but candidates must hold the right to work in that location.

 

Key responsibilities:

· Partnering with the HR Administrator to respond to routine employee queries, signposting employees to self-service resources where appropriate.

· Supporting managers and HR Business Partners with performance management, disciplinary and grievance procedures.

· Drafting and regularly updating HR policies in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure they align with local legislation and support our organisational goals.

· Working in partnership with the HR Business Partners and HR Administrator to assist with the drafting and administration of employment contracts, addendums

and other documentation, communicating employee changes to payroll and benefits colleagues as necessary.

· Helping to facilitate employee transfers, including working with external advisers to support employees and managers through visa application and renewal processes.

· Conducting exit interviews, collating feedback, and supporting analysis to inform strategic decision making.

· Coordinating occupational health referrals in line with relevant local procedures and liaising with HR business partners, managers and external providers as required.

· Providing support to the HR Administrator in maintaining SAP HR database, entering and updating employee information and running reports as requested by HR colleagues and other departments.

· Assisting Talent team with recruitment and onboarding processes.

· Providing ad-hoc support to the HR Administrator and wider HR team on day-to-day operations and projects supporting AP’s mission and priorities.

 

The successful candidate for this position will be:

· Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities/deadlines in a fast-paced business environment

· Detail-driven and highly accurate

· A confident and professional communicator (written and verbal), with the ability to liaise effectively with employees, managers, and external providers

· A proactive team player with a collaborative approach to problem solving

· Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

 

Essential criteria:

· Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a multi-country generalist role (HR Advisor, Assistant or similar) within an international organisation.

· Demonstrable understanding of key employment legislation and related requirements in the UK and/or USA. Additional jurisdictions preferred but not essential.

· Proven experience drafting policies, contracts and other key HR documentation.

· Experience partnering with managers and supporting HR projects.

· Knowledge of HRIS systems (SAP HR and Success Factors recruitment/onboarding platform desirable but not essential).

· A good understanding recruitment and onboarding best practices.

· Familiarity with visa sponsorship processes, including liaising with external immigration advisers and supporting international employee mobility.

· A strong understanding of and belief in the AP’s mission and the importance of independent journalism.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.

· Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Additional languages a plus.

 

Salary Range: $78K - $89K

Please note: The salary range provided for this position is a guideline for US-based candidates only. Salary ranges for candidates outside the US will be calculated in line with their location and discussed with them separately.
